Sedimentation can be harmful to both lakes, ponds and other stormwater BMP systems. Shallow water allows light to reach more pond bottom providing more growing space for invasive plant species. Shallow water across large areas of an aquatic system is also not ideal for fish growth and survivability due to increased shallow water temperatures and low dissolved oxygen levels. Dredging (excavating or suction pumping) sediment, muck, plant stems and roots makes the water deeper and more resistant to nuisance plant growth. Additionally, Operation and Maintance manuals may require maintaining storage volumes. Foster Lake & Pond Management, Inc. is highly experienced in dredging or excavation of sedimentation in these systems. This experience permits us to recommend the proper amount of dredging to effectively meet our customers’ needs. Finally, according to our customers’ requirements, dredged material can be hauled off-site for disposal or placed (and spread or stockpiled) on-site if so desired. Please contact us for assistance with your dredging needs. Licensed North Carolina General (Highway) Contractor: License # 63563 |
